Carat Weight: This refers to the weight of the stone expressed in carats. One carat is equal to 1/5th or .20 of one gram.
Clarity: This refers to the amount of inclusions in a stone. Inclusions come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors and the clarity grade takes into account several factors regarding an inclusion and assigns it a grade. As a general rule of thumb stones with an I1 grade or lower has inclusions visible to the naked eye. (Flawless) F, IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1,
SI2, I1, I2, I3 (Included)
Color: This refers to the lack of color within a stone. The rarest and subsequently most valuable diamonds are the ones that are extremely white. A good rule of thumb to follow is that color is not visible in a stone face up to the viewer until the J range. Color grades are assigned to a diamond as follows: D,E,F, (Colorless), G, H, I (Near Colorless), J, K, L (Faint
Yellow), M, N+ (Obvious Yellow)
Cut: This refers to the shape of the stone. Diamonds typically come in theround brilliant shape however in recent years fancy shapes such as emerald cut, princess, pear, heart, marquise, oval and others have gained much popularity.
